Meet the Artist

January 15 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

“Artists in the Library”
Melanie Tornberg
January and February!
A native Mainer, Melanie Tornberg, started studying art at the Western Maine Arts Group as a child. She stayed with this group, learning the basics of oil and watercolor painting until graduating from high school and enrolling in the BFA program at the University of New Hampshire. There, Melanie studied with gifted painters, John Laurent and John Hatch.
Settling down in Southern Maine with her husband, Anders, Melanie became a Mom and pursued a degree in biotechnology. She soon learned that she was as accomplished a scientist as she was an artist, receiving two patents and developing numerous veterinary diagnostic tools in a career with IDEXX that spanned 20 years.
Continuing to paint, exhibit, teach and even docent from time to time, Melanie was delighted to learn that the Western Maine Arts Group was still going strong and quickly renewed her relationship with them.
Melanie now divides her time between Bethel and her summer camp in Norway where she finds inspiration in the flowers, birds, and wildlife she appreciates in her Western Maine Home.
Meet Melanie on January 15th from 6-8pm during our “Meet the Artist” night
and learn more about the work and inspirations of this multi-talented artist!
